Dr. Reed is one of the few Level-3 sedation dentists in the area — meaning he can provide both oral and IV sedation for our most anxious patients.
Our lightest sedation option. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) takes the edge off anxiety in minutes. You breathe it in through a small mask, feel relaxed and comfortable throughout your procedure, and return to normal as soon as it's removed. Drive yourself home — no recovery time needed.
For patients with moderate anxiety, we prescribe a sedative pill taken before your appointment. You'll arrive already relaxed and remain in a calm, semi-conscious state throughout your treatment. Most patients have little to no memory of the procedure — making it ideal for those with strong dental fears or past trauma.
Our deepest level of sedation for patients with severe dental anxiety or complex treatment needs. Dr. Reed became IV sedation certified through the Montefiore Hospital Program in 2002 — one of the few general dentists in the area with this training. He re-certified at St. Joseph's Hospital in 2012. Since then, he has administered conscious sedation to high-fear patients for implants, smile makeovers, and same-day crowns.

Joseph Reed, DMD, MAGD, has three decades of experience providing general dentistry and is one of the few level-three sedation dentists in the area — meaning he can provide both oral and IV sedation for our anxious patients.
Dr. Reed graduated from Temple University School of Dental Medicine in 1994. He achieved Master status with the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction that less than 2% of dentists hold.
In 2002, Dr. Reed attended the Montefiore Hospital Program and became certified to administer IV sedation. In 2012, Dr. Reed re-certified in IV sedation at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He enjoys providing dentistry for patients who have stated that they are "too afraid" to visit the dentist. Since 2002, Dr. Reed has been administering conscious sedation to high-fear patients and performing dental services such as implants, smile makeovers, and one-visit crowns.
